Candle holders
It's not always easy to come up with an idea for a home-made gift that has a musical theme. I wanted to do something special for the volunteers who play in our band, so I had decided to make candle holders in the shape of the treble and bass clef notations from sheet music. The clef's are made with curly maple laminated to a walnut center, and the tops and bottoms are made from the same piece of walnut. The walnut came from a batch that was cut in the mid-1800's and was given to me by a good friend. I was waiting for the right project to use the wood and this one seemed to be a good one.
